Vanilla Pompona Grandiflora is a exclusive heirloom Vanilla variety that is sustainably cultivated in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, where it continues to be pollinated by native orchid bees, preserving an ancient and biodiverse ecological relationship.
Not to be confused with Madagascan vanilla or pompona hybrids, this Original Vanilla strain has remained untouched in the Amazon rainforest for 1000s of years and is known to the locals by its native name “Sekut”.
Recently studied by Firmenich and featured in Perfumer & Flavorist, Peruvian Vanilla Pompona reveals a rich, deep floral fragrance with distinctive phenolic undertones—ideal for high-end foods, pastry chefs and flavour specialists seeking authenticity, complexity, and sensory depth.
Unique Flavour
Vanilla pompona beans are not only huge but have a unique flavour and aroma, often described as fruity, floral, and somewhat smoky with notes of aniseed, Its large, plump pods can grow the size of a banana making them packed full of caviar.
Native to the Amazon Jungle and grown in a Agroforestry conditions they are also a more ethical and eco-friendly option to greenhouse Vanilla. With only 300kg per year this native heirloom vanilla is superior to many of the other natural vanillas on the market.
This variety has been tested to show a concentration of upto 7.2% in vanillin and is crammed with over 300 flavour compounds that combine for a deep, complex taste and fragrance
